However, the main advantage a punter has, is that we can pick and choose which races we bet in, and pounce when the bookmakers have 'got it wrong'. If you consistently look for value in a horse's price, then over the long term you can make money from horse racing. If you consistently back horses whose price is too high compared to their chance of winning, then you will profit long-term. Equally, if you consistently oppose horses whose price is too short, and lay bets for them to lose, then again you will profit long-term. Hopefully this explains my horse racing betting philosophy -- I suggest laying horses to lose, as well as recommending horses you should back to win.
