Getting Started
Hello...
My name
is Max Redd and welcome to my racing service. You have
probably arrived at this page because you have just signed
up for a week-long trial, and you want to know what to
expect. I have put this section of my web site together to
give you answers to some of the most commonly-asked
questions I receive at my desk.
Please take
the time to read this page the whole way through, and if you
need clarification on any particular points, just
send me an email and I will do my best to help. I try to
respond to questions within 24 hours during the week. Please
allow more time at the week-ends.
My
Daily Message
I issue a message each morning by email around 11:00hrs GMT
with my advice for that day's racing. If today's message has
already been broadcast, then your trial will start tomorrow.
To ensure
you receive my messages, please make sure you have my email
addresses in your 'safe-senders' list:
max@reddracing.co.uk
maxredd@btinternet.com
Doing this
will ensure your email service provider does not filter my
messages by mistake. For more advice on 'white-listing'

Making the Most of My Information
I suggest horses to back-to-win, and also horses I recommend
you oppose by laying a bet to lose. My Win Selections focus
on horses very likely to win their race -- they have the
form, strong information from connections, and the weight of
money in the market behind them. However, I will only make a
final selection if I feel the price we can obtain will give
a satisfactory return on our investment. In other words, I
am looking for that vital ingredient to make betting pay --
and that is 'value'.
IMPORTANT: If you are unable to secure
the price I advise, then I strongly suggest you do not bet.
Example
(back-to-win bet):
Newb 425
Scots Grey at 2.75 or better
This means
you should back
the horse called 'Scots Grey' in the 4:25 race at Newbury.
However, you should only
place your bet if you can get a price of 2.75 in decimal
odds, and preferably higher.
Example
(lay bet):
Asct 1:10
The Real Deal at 5.50 or lower
This means
you should lay
the horse called 'The Real Deal' in the 1:10 race at Ascot.
However, you should only
place your bet if you can get a price of 5.50 in decimal
odds, and preferably lower.
If you are
not familiar with decimal odds, then refer to my
odds converter
My father
once told me: "It comes down to discipline, but if you
can learn to accept the disappointment of missing a
short-priced winner, then you will never have to suffer the
agony of a short-priced loser!"
I recommend
you
read this article on why betting for value is crucial to
making a long-term profit.
My results
will show only those horses that were available at the value
prices I recommend. Please do not send me a message
complaining when a 4/6 odds-on favourite loses, when I
advised only backing it so long as you could get at least
11/8 odds against.
Similarly,
my Lay Bets also focus on race favourites and horses at the
head of the market. You will not be laying long-shots and
risking £200 to win a tenner! However, by contrast to my
back-to-win selections, these horses are vulnerable
favourites, and their price will be too short compared to
their actual chance of winning. Book-makers have made their
living for years by laying
bets on weak favourites, and it is how we can make money
together too.
You should
understand that these horses will still win their races in
turn, and you should not be expecting a 90-95% strike rate.
Again, if
the price I suggest is unavailable then let the horse run
(keep your money safe) and do not
bet.
How
To Find The Best Prices
To get the best value from my selections -- and to place
bets on horses to lose -- you should have an account with
one of the betting exchanges.
Typically,
the prices you can get on the exchanges will be better than
those offered by the major bookmakers. The best known
betting exchanges are Betfair, Betdaq, and WBX World Bet
Exchange. Because it has a much higher liquidity, ie. there
is more money in their markets, I recommend you start with
Betfair. However, do not make the mistake of limiting your
options to Betfair alone.
Once you
become familiar with the 'exchange' style of betting, you
should follow up and open accounts with Betdaq and WBX.
Often you may find the best price on a horse will be at one
of the other exchanges, or sometimes with a conventional
bookmaker. Make sure you have a price comparison web site
such as
OddsChecker.com in the Favourites list of your web
browser.
You may
find it useful to read an article I published recently on
the advantages of betting with the exchanges. To read the
article

If you do
not have one already, it is free to open an account with the
main betting exchanges -- just follow the links below and

When
Is The Best Time To Bet?
I'm afraid there is no hard and fast rule as to the best
time to bet. My methods do not exclusively look for
'steamers' whose price will shorten, so I cannot say you
should always take the early price. Equally, I do not always
pick horses whose price will drift, so I cannot recommend
always to bet at the last minute. However, everybody can
improve their skill in judging the markets as they gain
experience.
The good
news is that you can make excellent profits by simply
betting my selections at minimum advised prices. Log-in to
your betting exchange account when you receive my daily
message, and submit all your bets at your required prices.
You can then leave all your bets to be matched, without
having to sit at your PC screen all afternoon. Nothing could
be simpler. Any bets that do not get matched will
automatically be cancelled, leaving you only
with good value bets.
Those of
you with schedules permitting, can increase your profits
further still by analysing price movements and striking at
the optimum moment.
Your
Betting Bank
It is not my job to tell you how much money you should be
putting behind my selections -- we are both adults and
responsible for our own financial affairs. However, from
personal experience I would never bet with a Bankroll of
less than 100 points. So, if you intend to bet at the
minimum stake of £2 allowed on Betfair then I suggest you
start with a Bank of at least £200.
Staking Plan
You will see that my back-to-win bets are advised at simple
one-point level stakes. When you follow my lay bets however,
you will find that on occasion I will suggest extra strength
bets against certain over-bet horses. These bets ensure we
make optimum profits from vulnerable race favourites.
Whilst my
service makes a healthy profit to level stakes, many of my
members guarantee themselves a significant extra income by
using staking software such as CashMaster.
My selections are ideally suited for use with the CashMaster
program because losing runs are short, and I never give
odds-on selections.
